Welcome!

Some of the children and cook at the back of the houseYou are visiting our new website where in addition to keeping up with things on the Facebook page, you will find more pictures of our activities as well as a convenient way to support through your donations.

I have gotten feedback that the website looks a little generic but for right now, that was planned to make it easy to navigate. Those of you that are on our mailing list will find QR codes in the newsletters to help quickly link to specific stories or items.

If you want to find out what we are working on, what the children are doing, donate to support a child or a designated gift, or to contact us for speaking at your church or organization, you can find it all in one convenient place.

I also have around 800 photos that I will be looking through to add some of the interesting ones in the days ahead.

Thank you for your interest.

Farewell to a Friend and Supporter

September 24, 2016 by RCMartin Leave a Comment

20150415_111638A dear lady from the Logansport Nazarene Church, Diane Vernon, has been a friend for many years. After we started the children’s home she would occasionally ask if we had any projects or needs going on.

About 3 years ago, she started supporting the children monthly as well as giving designated donations to projects that she felt important. As a widow lady with very limited income, I knew that her gifts were sacrificial giving; not given out of excess resources but from a heart of love.

She was a very private person and asked only that the kids be taken care of and she wanted no public praise.

She passed away on September 8th and I wanted to take a moment to recognize a portion of her generosity. A link to her obituary is http://www.gundrumcares.com/notices/Diane-Vernon Diane you were an inspiration and are missed by all.

Board Nomination

September 24, 2016 by RCMartin Leave a Comment

Volunteers and helpers

At our July board meeting Dr. Horace D. Smith and Julie Ropp were nominated to the board. Both accepted the nomination.

Dr. Smith is a retired pastor, having served several churches before coming to Logansport where he served for over 34 years until his retirement. He is very active in the district level church activities and positions as well as in the community and is involved with several non-profit organization as well as chaplain for the Logansport Police department. His background as board member in these organizations and experience in the financial areas serves him well as the newly appointed treasurer.

Julie Ropp is a Purdue University graduate majoring in early childhood development and has worked with children for a number of years. She is employed by the Logansport School System teaching special education to the children with special needs. She has been a supporter of the children’s home for a number of years, helping with school supplies and other needs.

We welcome them both and look forward to working with them in the days ahead.
